Water users also will pay an extra $200 service charge each year, ($50 per quarter for water plus $50 per year for sewer). At the same time, the sewer rate will increase by 15 percent, with a greater rate for those who use above 12,001 gallons of water.

The sewer rate of $13.75 per 1,000 gallons will increase to $15.75 per 1,000 gallons and to $19.25 per 1,000 gallons of metered water used for 12,001 gallons and above.

Pool owners may request a deduction from their sewer bill by calling the borough utility collector to schedule a meter reading before filling the pool. Call 609.924.7445 during normal borough hall hours: 3:30 pm to 6 pm on Wednesdays.

The steep water and utility increases are needed to support significant current and future costs to maintain the utility infrastructure and to stay in compliance with federal and state regulations, according to a letter mailed to all water / sewer utility customers. The letter was mailed prior to the May 3 public discussion of the rate change. Borough council adopted the new rates following the public discussion.
