Bell has accepted a position with the Somerset County Administrator’s Office, she told The Montgomery News. She starts the first week of November.

“It has been a delight and an honor to represent the residents of Montgomery Township – the best township in Somerset County,” she said at the October 6 Township Committee meeting. “I have gained a through understanding of how local government functions as I aimed to better life for residents and township staff – who devote their lives to the betterment of the town.”

She also said she was grateful to the residents who volunteer to serve on the many township boards that are essential to running the town. People who serve on boards, including planning, zoning, health, economic development, and more, often go unrecognized for their service.

Township Committee will appoint a new committee member at a November meeting. The appointee would serve out Bell’s term, which ends in December 2023, and must be a member of the Democratic Party. Three nominees must be presented to the committee, which will vote to decide who to select.

Township Committee will also vote to select a new deputy mayor from amongst its committee members. ■
